Kasargod: A mother attempted suicide after tossing her two children into well at Madikai near Kanhangad on Thursday. Mother is survived in the incident, but two children lost their life.

Harinanda (6) and Laxminanda (3) are the children who lost their life. Geet (40) mother of children who also jumped into well after throwing her children has survived and admitted in hospital.

The incident came to light when Geeta’s husband Sudhakar returned back from to home. He searched for his wife and children as the house was empty. He heard some noise in well and after seeing all three drawning he called neighbours for help.

Fire personnel also informed and all three were taken out of the well. Two children had already lost their lives and Geeta was still breathing. Her condition was so serious and she was rushed to Kanhangad government hospital soon.

The reason behind this extreme step is yet to be ascertained.

A case has been registered at Hosadurg police station.
