Mangaluru: “Congress leaders have broken the promises by hiking property tax by 15 percent. It is a break of people’s trust,” said former union minister Janardhana Poojary.
Addressing the reporters on Saturday, he condemned the move of MCC for hiking SAS tax. “MCC has committed an unforgivable crime. Before the elections Congress leaders in a convention had promised not to hike the tax in the state. But now the SAS tax has been hiked by 15 percent,” he said.
He further said that CM should have kept the promises. Even the former mayors also had got calls from urban development department to hike the tax, but they didn’t budged. Mayor Harinath paid attention to the calls and amid objections he hiked the tax.
“Collecting the pending tax amount should have been the priority of CM than increasing the tax. If he would have enough knowledge about administration then he would have done it. He must protect the interest of the party,” he added.
