Mysuru: A 105-feet tall ‘Watch Tower’, a replica of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, was the centre of attraction during the 17th national jamboree of Bharat Scouts and Guides at Adakanahalli Industrial Area, near here, on Monday.
As many as 28 scouts and guides, in the age group of 14 and 16 years, of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Moradabad district, in Uttar Pradesh, have erected the tower in less than two days. The tower, which has been erected with wooden poles and steel wire, has two floors and all the construction materials were transported from UP in a train.
The tower’s first floor stands at 60 feet. There are three option to scale the tower — manual lift with an armchair, ladder and climbing over the poles. While one can climb the first floor using the lift, the ladder is mandatory to reach the second floor.
Moradabad district organising commissioner (Scouts) Ibraheem Ahamed, also a champion in the previous national jamboree, said, the tower is a replica of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
He said, the team members worked day and night and constructed it in less than two days. The work started on December 29, 2016, night and was complete by 31st noon.
“No team members rested for more than 15 minutes during the work,” he said.
Ahamed said, all team members are first time participants in the national jamboree.
