Mangaluru: Kavoor police have arrested a youth under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act for attempting to blackmail a college girl of the city by sending obscene pictures through mobile phone. The accused identified as Puneet Poojary (20), a resident of Moodushedde of Mangaluru city. The others two youth who allegedly helped the accused to blackmail the girl are absconding and the police are trying to trace and arrest them.

The accused had been sending obscene images to the girl initially and later in an attempt to blackmail her, he started sending edited fake nude images of herself asking her to indulge in sex with him. However, the girl refused to cooperate with him and filed a complained with the police. Based on the complaint received the police arrested the accused and produced before the court for further proceedings.

The cops are in search of his two friends, Prathvi and Vilas, the residents of the city who are absconding after their friend’s arrest.
