Udupi: Unique protest was staged demanding taluk status for Brahmavar by Brahmavar Taluk Rachana Horata Samiti on Saturday in front of district in-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj’s office.

Protestors sung bhajan ‘Karunisu Shasaka’ (Please Provide MLA) and demanded their demand in a unique manner. They also protested in front of former district minister Vinay Kumar Sorake’s office also.

Addressing the protestors Satish Poojary, President of Samiti said that former CM Jagadeesh Shettar had proposed to give status of taluk to Brahmavar which was declined by Congress government. It is purely an injustice to the residents of Brahmavar.

“We have been the victims of politics. Even the local MLAs and MP are not bothered about the matter. From past four years whenever we have met CM and other Minister they just kept on giving assurances, but none of them were seen to be come true,” he said.

Further he warned to hold massive protests if the government doesn’t meet with their demand.
