Sullia: An arecanut merchant was robbed of Rs 5 lakh cash at gunpoint by a gang of dacoits at Aivarnadu in Sullia on Monday.

Abdul Khader was on his way to his shop at Guttigaru from when the accused arrived in an SUV and intercepted his car. It is said that they threatened him with pistols and knives and escaped with the cash.

The gang also took away mobiles of the others travelling with Khader. The incident took place so fast that none of them were able to note down details of the car.

Sources say that one of the dacoits had covered his face with a mask while the rest had not done so and they spoke in Hindi.

A case was registered in this regard.
