Mangaluru: Kasturba Medical College Hospital Attavar, on the occasion of its silver jubilee celebrations, has partnered an advanced pediatric surgical program ‘Bal Shalya Kriya Mission’ in Mangaluru with Peedh Parai International, Houston (U.S.A) and Bantwal Ananth Mallya charitable trust whereby children up to 16 years of age with untreated complicated surgical conditions require very high surgical expertise will be treated at free of cost this week at KMC Hospital Attavar.
The Bal Shalya Kriya Mission week was inaugurated by B Ramanath Rai, District In Charge Minister, Karnataka state Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment. The minister was also inaugurated the renovated state of the art Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at KMC Hospital Attavar on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the District In Charge Minister said that, “ KMC Hospital has taken a good initiative under Bal Shalyakriya Mission since through this program unreached and poor children not only from our district but also from nearby districts and states are getting the benefit from the team of experienced doctors from different parts of the world.” He also told that serving children is a noble mission as children are universally compared to God due to their innocence and selflessness. He urged KMC Hospital to continue such social initiatives in the future too and assured all the support from his side for such social initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Ashwin Pimpalwar, Paediatric , Thoracic Surgeon at Texas Children’s Hospital Houston, USA and Chairman Peedh Parai International said that “this is the first initiative in Karnataka and second in India, and this is a voluntary contribution by team Peedh Parai who consist of like-minded doctors, clinicians and executives with an objective to help the poor and needy at all parts of the world.”
Jeetendra Nayak, Trustee of Bantwal Ananth Mallya Charitable Trust, Dr V Surendra Shetty, Pro Vice Chancellor Manipal University- Mangalore Campus, Dr Rajesh, In charge District Health Officer and others were present on the occasion.
