Udupi : Two women achievers, Manisha, an autorickshaw driver, and Ujwala, a local cable network operator, were felicitated by The Women’s Forum of Crossland College at Brahmavar in Udupi district On International Women’s Day.
Manisha has been driving autorickshaws for the last 12 years while Ujwala has been employed as a local cable network operator for the last 20 years.
S.K. Samuel, principal, Crossland College, lauded the efforts of the two women achievers for venturing into fields that were considered to be male dominated. The college has been making constant efforts to interact with the community closely, laud the good work of the people and lend a helping hand to the needy, he said.
Other lectures
The felicitation was followed by a lecture on cancer screening by Vandita Pahwha from the Department of Community Medicine, Kasturba Medical College.
Clara Lewis, from the same department and an alumna of the college, delivered a lecture on obesity and stress management.
Supriya compared the programme. Jyothi, faculty coordinator, was present.
