Mangaluru : Mangaluru city coporation is all set to make the city free from all plastic flex banners from April 1, said Mayor Kavitha Sanil.
She said that religious functions will be exempted only if the banners were printed on cloth and displayed at specific locations with prior permission from the Mangaluru City Corporation.
Further, she said that political parties were some of the worst violators as they put up banners and buntings whenever rallies and public meetings were organized; however, they would have to keep the ban in mind from April 1. With regard to religious functions, the banners will be displayed for five days and organizers will be responsible for removing it later,” she stated.
Meanwhile, Commissioner of Mangaluru City Corporation, Mohammad Nazeer said that the civic body would constitute a team to deal with the issues regarding unauthorized petty shops. He informed that the same team would also be responsible of dealing with illegal banners and buntings.
