New Delhi: BJP leaders of both Houses of Parliament, Ms. Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley today left for Kashmir Valley, presumably to support the hoisting of national Indian tricolour at the Lal Chowk in Srinagar on the 62nd Republic Day of India on next Wednesday. A senior party functionary and MP, HN Ananth Kumar, also left Delhi for Jammu/Kashmir to take command of the impending flag hoisting programme, at the call of BJP high command here.
The 3 top BJP leaders are expected to take command of the local (BJP) programmes to show J&K as an integral part of India, not to be separated ever.
The move came after several BJP youths were prevented a day earlier from entering J&K by its Govt.
The NDA has accused PM ManmohanSingh and CM Omar Abdullah pf surrendering to separatists and showing panic reaction disproportionate to the situation.
The PM last week had asked Indian parties to desist from promotoing devisive agenda, to maintain peace in a sensitive region like J&K. This remark had oppressed BJP to take its own path of action.
Lal Krishna Advani in his blog wrote that BJP wanted to challenge the separatist forces obstructing the National tricolour being hoisted in Srinagar.
The Kashmir Police meanwhile took BJP state unit leader Sofi MohammedYousuf into preventive custody. The state govt has decided to employ 100 additional companies of police and paramilitary forces to meet the situation and to scuttle attempts to march into Srinagar by BJP members.
BJP contended that if a Pakistani flag could go up in full glare in 2010 at Lal chowk, this year the Indian flag could do the same. It is a clash between BJP & Congress now.
