Mangaluru :  The Navayuga Udupi Tollway Private Limited hired agents at Talapady toll gate attacked a youth  on questioning the staff over attacking an elderly person at the booth.

The incident took place on Thursday when Abdul Hameed Sarafat (25) was returning to Kasargod from Mangaluru.

At around 2:30 pm Abdul reached the toll gate and found an old car driver being assaulted and abused. When Abdul objected the act he was reportedly surrounded by around 20 toll gate staff members and assaulted. Abdul suffered from serious injuries, was later admitted to a nearby hospital by an unidentified person.

A complaint has been filed and registered at the Ullal police station.

In the complaint, the youth has mentioned that all the assaulters were wearing toll gate badges and they could be the toll gate staff.

Police are verifying the CCTV footages to get more details on the incident.

It is said, Toll gate collection agents using nuisance words with travelers and  they will not allow locals within the area without payments.
