Vitla: A  gang of four member murdered Karopady Grama Panchayat Vice President Jaleel Karopady in a broad daylight on Thursday morning when he was at his panchayat office at Karopady near Vitla, Dakshina Kannada.

The deceased was a son of taluk panchayat member Usman Karopady.

Unknown assailants arrived on two motor cycles and stabbed the vice president severeyand managed escaped from the spot immediately after committing the act. Severely injured Jaleel was later brought to a medical college hospital here in Deralakatte and the doctors declared him dead after a brief examination.

Police have taken elaborate security arrangements in the area where the incident took place as the murder has created tension in the area. Vitla police have registered a case on the incident and investigation is continuing.
