Udupi: A quarrel between jail inmates impact a under trail prisoner seriously injured at Hiriadka jail in Udupi on Sunday late night and the incident came into light only on Monday morning when the jail staff found the victim Tony James laying unconscious in his cell.

According to the sources, six other accused in separate cases were reportedly beaten the victim seriously on Saturday night over a small issue. The five members of six who beaten the prisoner are identified as Prashanth Shetty, Prashant Mogaveera, Prashant Ballal, Anand Marathi and Vikram Kundapur.

Kerala based Tony was arrested in connection with a clash in a train and sent to Mangaluru jail before shifting him to Hiriadaka jail. Police investigating case and further details are yet to be known.
