Bantwal: The Dakshina Kannada district administration has issued prohibitory orders all across the district except the city police commissionerate limits. Bantwal, Puttur, Beltangady and Sullia taluks, enforced prohibitory orders under Section 144 up to to midnight of Wednesday June 14.
Hindu Jagarana Vedike leader Rathnakara Shetty, Ravi Bhandary were injured after the duo were attacked by the members of another community. The two leaders have been admitted to a hospital in Puttur.
Meanwhile, Bantwal urban police station sub inspector Rakshith seriously injured during the clashes while other police personnel survived with minor injuries when a group of people pelted stone at them. According to the locals, the police failed to control the miscreants who involved in the violence and stone pelting. Following the uncontrolled situation, police personnel from Puttur, Vitla and Uppinangady arrived to control the situation in the area.
Miscreants damaged the vehicles parked by the people, shops, commercial establishments, public properties and others during the violence. Many people have also been injured in the attack and stone pelting incidents. The incident broke out after Jaleel attacked. According to the sources, violence including stone pelting incidents were pre-planned to create tension in the area.
Vehicular traffic stalled for nearly two hours on Mangaluru-Bengaluru national highway which passes through Kalladka. However, the traffic was later reestablished after police personnel arrived at the spot from other areas of the district to control situation.
