Mangaluru : A total 30 calls received in second phone-in programme of Mayor Kavitha Sanil, which related drainage problem, footpaths invasion, parking and mansoon related issues on June 27, Tuesday.
A caller from Kadri Kambla complained about a drainage problem near the Chandrika Layout and The mayor repalied the problem would be instructed officials to take necessary action.
Nagaraj from Lady Hill complained about bunch of street vendors occupying the footpaths right from MCC building area towards Lady Hill during day time-and in the late evenings mobile food canteens are also set up there, Mayor repliad to take nessary steps for them.
A senior citizen from Balmatta complained that the road from Jyothi to Bunts Hostel does not have footpaths since four years after finish the work. We already called tender for the footpath works mayor said.
Philomena Tauro from Nagori-Kankanady complained about a Gujiri Shop (scarp shop) near her residence which has been dumping used tyres, other waste etc, resulting in breeding of mosquitoes, which may spread various diseases- for which the Mayor directed Health Officer Dr Manjaiah Shetty to look into the matter, and cancel the trade license if needed.
Speaking to reporters, the Mayor said the proposed information centre will operate from the ground floor of the MCC building with in a week, The handbook giving details of the various services offered by MCC would be available for Rs 10.
The second phone-in programme was held today, 27 June 2017 from 12 noon until 1.10 pm, where 28 people called in, excluding 14 missed calls before 12 noon.
In first phone-in programme nearly 50 citizens called in for various problems. The Mayor assured of action to them from related departments. Callers count reduced from first phone-in programme to second.
