Mangaluru: The accused who harassed a girl as follow-up in Activa scooter in broad daylight in the city has been taken into custody.

Rizwan Ahmed alias Arshad (29) from Jeppu was arrested here on Friday.

On June 25, when Rashmi Shetty, a 22-year-old girl was walking on the St Aloysius College Road when a person on a scooter started eve teasing her. She then took it to social media where she posted an open letter to the accused on Facebook and reported in detail about the alleged harassment in the central area of the city and also shared a picture of his scooter.

Two days later, the Mangaluru City Police filed a Suo Moto complaint in this regard and nabbed the accused.

Based on the registration number, the scooter was traced to its owner Rizwan, and he was arrested here on Friday.
