Bengaluru : JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy on Tuesday said he is not dreaming of becoming the chief minister again and that he only wants to bring his party to power for the development of the state.
Addressing JD(S) workers after inducting senior leader A H Vishwanath and his followers into the party fold, he said only the JD(S) can find solutions to problems being faced by people of the state. Both the national parties, the Congress and the BJP, have failed to protect the interests of the state, he charged.
“The chief minister (Siddaramaiah) has said that I am dreaming of becoming the chief minister again…It is not true. He has made an arrogant statement. I have already served as the chief minister of the state. But I want to bring the JD(S) to power for the development of the state,” he said.
On Siddaramaiah’s statement that even JD (S) legislators are not criticising his government, Kumaraswamy said when many leaders within the ruling party themselves are criticising the government, there is no need for others to do that job. Senior ministers such as K R Ramesh Kumar and Kagodu Thimmappa are frequently hitting out at the government, he added.
He said the JD-S’ strength has increased in Mysuru following Vishwanath joining the party. Hundreds of Vishwanath’s followers will soon join the party in Mysuru, he added. Vishwanath, who quit the Congress following differences with Siddaramaiah, said the JD(S) has to chalk out a strategy to win the next Assembly polls.
He assured that he will try to strengthen the party under Kumaraswamy’s leadership.
