Bantwal: The Hindu Hitarakshana Vedike and other like minded organaisation staged a protest on Friday at B.C.Road against murder attempt on RSS activist Sharath resident Kandur in Sajipamunnur on Tuesday night.
Thousands of people led by Hindu outfits, BJP Lok Sabha MPs Shobha Karandlaje, Nalin Kumar Kateel staged protest at Bantwal town in Dakshina Kannada on Friday. The protests held amid section 144 being imposed in Bantwal and other three neighboring taluks of the district.
Hindu outfits organised the protests in Bantwal to condemn recent murder attempt on RSS worker Sharath (28) at BC Road on Tuesday night. The condition of RSS worker remained critical for the third day on Friday at a hospital in Mangaluru. Hindu outfits urged the government and police to arrest the culprits responsible for murder attempt on RSS worker. The youth was attacked even if section 144 being imposed in Bantwal by unidentified assailants and this shows irresponsibility of the police and the government, protesters said.
Additional police forces have been deployed in the district especially in communal violence hit Bantwal taluk to prevent any unpleasant incident in the wake of murder attempt and protests organised. Karnataka State Reserve Police (KRRP) personnel patrolling in Bantwal led by as many as 100 top police officers. Communal violence haunting Bantwal and neighboring taluks for the last 45 days and murder attempt on the youth has fueled to raise communal tensions in the region.
Meanwhile, Dakshina Kannada District SP Sudheer Kumar Reddy informed the media persons that, as many as 6 police teams have been investigating the murder attempt on RSS worker and have obtained no evidence inconnection to the case. The police have already took 20 people into their custody however, no information gathered yet, he said.
