Mangaluru : As per the post-mortem report, RSS volunteer Sharath Madiwala died at 12.30 a.m. on July 7 itself. However, it was officially announced only later in the night.

The death certificate issued by A.J. Hospital and Research Centre, Mangaluru, where he was admitted after the July 4 attack, says Sharath died at 12.30 a.m. on July 7 (intervening night of Thursday and Friday).

The police, however, did not allow the hospital authorities to communicate the news to the victim’s family apparently wary of backlash from Sangh Parivar groups, according to sources.

Moreover, the Congress had organised a workers’ convention in Mangaluru on Friday afternoon where Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had participated. The official death news was announced only after Mr. Siddaramaiah left the city.
