Mangaluru : Representatives of merchant organisations, Democratic Youth Federation of India, Vishwa Hindu Parishad met the Director-General and Inspector-General of Police Rupak Kumar Dutta on Thursday.
Mr. Dutta is on a two-day visit to the city in light of communal incidents and tension in Bantwal taluk.
In a memorandum submitted to Mr. Dutta, DYFI State president Muneer Katipalla asked the police to take tough action against those involved in communal trouble and those instigating it. The police need to take steps to prevent communal trouble in the district, he said.
Representatives of Canara Bus Owners Association and representatives of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Hindu Jagarana Vedike met Mr. Dutta.
Mr. Dutta will be visiting Bantwal on Friday.
