Udupi: After three days from the suspected mass suicide case at Padubelle near Shirva in Udupi district where family of four ended life, got a new twist that, the Innanje Co-operative Bank officials have found that Rs 60 lakh worth gold jewelry pledged by the family head at their Padubelle branch was fake.
After mass suicide incident, on a suspicion the officials at the bank branch checked the gold jewelry pledged by family head, jewelry owner Shankara Acharya and confirmed the gold pledged for cash was fake. The new twist strengthens the opinion of the locals that the family might have ended life following severe financial trouble.
Shankara Acharya led luxurious life until his death. He owned two cars, two motor cycles when he and his family members including wife and two daughters ended their lives on Thursday morning.
