Mangaluru : The muder accused in SDPI activist, Ashraf, at Benjanapadavu on June 21, have been shifted to Belagavi prison. Under instruction from the department of prisons.

Pawan, Santosh, Abhin Rai, Shivaprasad and other five in the same case were taken to Belagavi prison on Monday night.

After media report of leaked photographs from Mangalore jail, Barke police visited Dakshina Kannada district prison in Mangaluru and questioned the inmates and officials on an alleged party organised in the jail by a group of prisoners.

Senior prison department officials from Bengaluru, who came across report about party organized inside the district prison here, contacted the the police officers here and questioned them. The senior officers at the district level asked Barke police station inspector to examine the allegation. Accordingly, police inspector of Barke station, Ramakrishna, along with a team of officials, visited the prison, checked the facts and submitted a report, it is gathered.

The in-charge superintendent of the Mangalore prison has denied the news.
