Mangaluru: A Christian family from Padavinangady here returned to their own religion (Hinduism) at the Vajradehi Math, Gurupur on Monday.

A Hindu family converted into Christiany nearly 40 years ago. The five members Arun Monteiro(46) his mother, wife and children had converted herself into Christiany from Hinduism. So the family decided to go back to their religion.

It is said, Arun Monteiro approached the Padavinangady Hindu Jagarana Vedike members he approached them with his desire to accept Hinduism and reconvert. HJV members approached the Swamiji of Vajradehi Math Sri Sri Rajashekaranand and on July 24 all family members of Arun Monteiro accepted Hinduism at the Vajradehi Math.

Rituals concerning the conversion were held at the Vajradehi Math, Gurupur.Arun, his wife, children and mother were declared Hindus after the rituals.

Swamiji said that the family came to him willingly and they were not forced to embrace the religion. “They faced some problems there. So they wanted to become Hindus. There was no pressure from anybody in this matter.” Swamiji said.
