Mangaluru: Uber cab operators stage protest against the company and forcefully shut company office located near Jyothi circle in Mangaluru city on Wednesday. The office reportedly shutdown by the drivers to raise their voice against the problems being faced by them following frequent changes made by the company in their tariffs and other incentives.
According to the cab operators, the company has doubled the trips and deducted the incentives of the cab drivers from Rs 4,100 for 13 trips to Rs 3,200 for 27 trips even if the drivers hardly get 8 to 10 trips a day. The drivers urged the company to fix the tariffs on yearly basis and not to change the tariffs frequently.
B K Imtiyaz, President of District Online Taxi Drivers and Owners Association demanded that the cab drivers must get security. Cab drivers facing problems at entering railway station due to opposition from local rickshaw drivers. This results in a penalty of Rs 15 on the cab driver which is unacceptable, he said.
