Mangaluru : Justice for Kavya Horata Samiti will take out a semi-nude protest rally from the Hampankatta signal to the DC’s office on September 23, Seeking justice for Alva’s College student Kavya, who died on July 20 at her school hostel in Moodbidri.
Addressing reporters at Arya Samaja in Mangaluru on Tuesday, activist Dinakar Shetty said that even after 53 days of Kavya’s death, there is seemingly no progress in the case. Delay in the investigation has raised questions, he said. “The protest rally is intended to urge the police department and the district administration to speed-up the investigation and to provide justice to the deceased.”
“The post mortem report of the student has also raised suspicions, as the wound on her leg has not been mentioned in the report.” Earlier when the samiti decided to stage a protest, the higher officials had assured that tgeinvesigation will be completed by September 20, and the truth would b e revealed. “If the probe is not completed before September 20, then we will take out a protest rally,” he added.
Kavya’s father Lokesh said that his daughter’s death, has been reported as an act of suicide, but, she had no reason to take her own life. “The accused, Pravin, the physical education teacher deputed at Alva’s college, should be interrogated,” he said.
