Udupi: Manipal police succeeded to find a missing boy after Facebook helped them to trace the location of the boy who went missing nearly three years ago in an incident reported in Manipal.
The boy, Prem Kiran, foster son of Sridhar Ameen, a resident of Anant Nagar in Manipal went missing on January 20, 2015 and after an intensive search, Ameen registered a complaint at Manipal police station 10 days after his missing. All efforts made by the police and others failed to trace the boy during the past 2.9 years.
Recently, Inspector at District Crime Intelligence Bureau and District Anti Human Trafficking Unit, Ratnakumar G found an active Facebook page in the name of Prem Kiran. Ratnakumar G with the support of cyber police in Bengaluru traced the location of the boy in Mumbai.
A police team from Manipal found the missing boy at Dava Bazaar located in Prince Street of Kalbadevi, Mumbai and brought him to Manipal. The boy informed the police that he decided to leave Manipal to work and stay in Mumbai as he wasn’t interested in the studies. He also clarified that no group had abducted him and never involved in any criminal activity.
