Kasaragod: Dawn to dusk hartal called by United Democratic Front (UDF) has affected normal life in Kasaragod on Monday as buses, vehicles remained out of the roads whereas all commercial establishments, private, and government offices remained closed for the day. The hartal has begun 06.00 AM and is expected to end at 06.00 PM.
UDF called for a state wide hartal to register its protest against alleged anti-people policies of state and central governments. Stray incidents of violence have been reported in Southern parts of the state even if leader of opposition Ramesh Chennithala urged UDF workers not to engage in violence or force people to remain passive in the public.
According to the sources, KSRTC buses in Pathanamthitta district have reportedly came under attack whereas those who favour hartal have pelted stones at a KSRTC bus in Kochi to keep the vehicles out of the roads. Reports said that vehicles in Kollam, Thiruvananthapuram and other parts of the state have been stopped from plying on the roads.
