Mangaluru: Vijay Diwas was observed in the city to commemorate India’s victory over Pakistan in 1971 which helped in the liberation of Bangladesh.
Deputy Commissioner, Sasikanth Senthil addressing the gathering said, “Martyred soldiers need to be remembered for their sacrifice to protect the nation. It is our duty to convey our gratitude to them and their families,”
Speaking at the occasion police commissioner T.R Suresh said “Celebrating Vijay Diwas is one of the best ways to honour our soldiers and pay gratitude to their families. Such programmes will also motivate the youth to enroll into Defense forces,”
The ‘Vijay Diwas’ commemoration ceremony was organized by the Dakshina Kannada Ex-Servicemen’s Association, Mangaluru under Shastavu Sri Bhoothanatheshvara Temple Trust and Lions Clubs International, District 317 D.
