Kolkata: Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee who is working to present a budget at the end of this month amidst double digit inflation and ever-rising prices on daily need items, has now admitted that Indian economy has taken a kick (beating) during the international economic crisis in a global network, and has managed to recover slowly from dumps.
He was addressing the Indian Statistical Institute in his home state today. The GDP growth has come down from 9% to 7% in 2008. But it is now recovering upto 8.5% for the budget year of 2011-12. He added that in the first half year, indicators had recovered the growth to about 8.9% in the Indian Economy.
