Mangaluru: Annual Eucharistic Procession and Inauguration of the Year of Rosary of Mangalore Diocese was held on Sunday.
Most Rev Aloysius Paul Dsouza, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese presided over the Eucharistic Celebration held at Milagres Church. Thereafter the Eucharistic Procession to Rosario Cathedral took place in which thousands of faithful of Mangalore Diocese publicly adored.
Rev Fr Antony Sera, parish priest of Bendur preached the homily on the theme ‘Mary, the Eucharistic Woman’s highlighting the role of Mary in Christian Life.
The Bishop in his address said that this year is declared as the year of Rosary with two specific motives.
Firstly, that Rosario Cathedral, the oldest church in the Mangalore Diocese has completed 450 years of it’s existence. This Church began as a small Chapel 450 years ago. To commemorate this great event, the year of Rosary is declared.
Secondly, this year is the year of elections in the state. So Bishop requested all the faithful to pray the Rosary so that out State gets a good government.
Bishop also specified that this is the 51st year of Eucharistic Procession which was begun by late Bishop Basil Salvadore D’Souza. Bishop congratulated all the parish priests and the faithful who contributed highly towards the Mission Sunday collection.
