Manipal: Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) celebrated Republic Day by hoisting the national flag on a high flagpole here on Friday.
The flag will flutter 24×7 on the 125 feet high mast pole right in front of the deemed to be University’s Administrative Building.
Two years ago, the Union Human Resources Ministry had made it mandatory for all Central universities in the country to have national flags on a flagpole of 207 feet.
Giving details of the flag, Badri Narayan, Director-Purchase, said that it would be illuminated for visibility even at night. Four 400W MH floodlights are mounted on to an octagonal to Illuminate the flag pole from the ground to the top. H.S. Ballal, Pro Chancellor of MAHE, hoisted the national flag and inspected the guard of honour and took the salute at the marchpast by the constituent institutions, NCC, security and Asare.
H. Vinod Bhat, Vice Chancellor, delivered the Republic Day speech. Pragna Rao, Dean of Kasturba Medical College, welcomed the gathering.
