Mangaluru: With 38.9 degrees Celsius, Mangaluru on Wednesday breached the record for the hottest day in the past decade.
The city’s average maximum temperature recorded for February is 32 degrees Celsius. However, the minimum temperature remained at 22.5°C without any change with reference to the mean average minimum temperature recorded for February.
The previous high was recorded at 38.7°C on February 16, 2017. In 2016, it reached 38.4°C on February 19. However, the two other coastal towns – Karwar and Honnavar – saw no rise in the temperatures.
Karwar’s record high 39.1°C was on February 21, 2009 and Honnavar’s 38.6°C was recorded on February 23, 1999. Karwar and Honnavar’s minimum temperatures stood at 19.3°C and 18.4°C, respectively.
