Byndoor: Election is the time which provides opportunity to the public to show their dissatisfaction at the poor performance of their representatives. When promises given by the representatives become blank promises, people are forced to take matters into their own hands.
A similar attempt is being made by the people of Hadavinakone Shiroor. They have decided to boycott the upcoming elections by announcing the ‘No Road, No Vote’ motion.
A dilapidated road connects Shiroor market, Hadavinakone, Mudramakki and Kalihitlu. The stretch at Hadavinakone is extensively used by the people and vehicles. The people have many times pleaded to various governments to create a road here but to no avail.
So, they have given an ultimatum. If no road is built before this election, the youth of this village along with its villagers will refrain from casting their votes to any contestant.
To promote this demand, banners and stickers are being used by rickshaws and other vehicles along the route. In this way the folk of this village have thought a lesson to the officials and politicians that to gain peoples vote they need to work.
