Mangaluru: Lashing at BJP, minister for forest, environment and ecology B Ramanath Rai said, “it is ridiculous that those who are instigating communal hatred and killings are holding Janasuraksha Yatre.”
Rai said the BJP has no moral rights to hold the ‘Mangaluru Chalo – Janasuraksha Yatre’ that entered Dakshina Kannada on Sunday.
“BJP and Sangh Parivar too have also killed many Hindus. Let them answer as to who killed RTI activist Vinayak Baliga, Prashanth Poojari and Harish Poojari. Those who foment communal hatred and killed Hindus are now holding rally to protect Hindus,” he ridiculed.
Rai charged that it is BJP and Sangh Parivar that are instrumental in disturbing peace and harmony in coastal districts. “They are also equally responsible for communal frictions that take place in the district. Like other communal forces, BJP too is promoting enmity in the society. Communal forces in the district have been terrorizing people through moral policing, ” he said.
Congress has no role in any of the communal clashes that reported in the district, Rai said and alleged that the BJP leaders have openly advocated for those who killed an innocent Muslim. “Soon after the murder of Deepak Poojari (on January 3), a saffron leader has publicly claimed the responsibility of retaliating the murder by killing a Muslim.
Congress has never supported killings. Our party always stands for unity and harmony in the society. BJP is now holding the rally only to provide opportunity for their leaders to spit venom through hate speeches. Their national president too has given them instructions to go aggressive to strengthen the party,” Rai added.
On failure of Congress in North-East states, Rai said, “Except in Meghalaya, Congress never had significant presence in North-east states. In Meghalaya, the BJP has started horse trading, but it is being portrayed wrongly as successful political strategy.”
