Puttur: Soon after the Election Commission announced the dates for the Karnataka Assembly polls today on Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty decided to travel in a bus rather than government claimed vehicle.
The episode happened in Panaje when the MLA arrived to participate in a private programme. After the programme while coming back to Puttur, Shetty left in a bus leaving behind her government claimed vehicle.
Shetty alongside KDP member Krishna Prasad Alva, Block Congress Vice-president Shivananda Maniyani sat tight for the Puttur bound bus and travelled together.
The much-anticipated Karnataka Assembly polls dates were declared by Chief Election Commissioner of India Om Prakash Rawat on Tuesday March 27 in New Delhi. The elections will be held on May 12 and the counting on May 15. The model implicit rules became effective instantly after the declaration. According to the model set of accepted rules no vehicles having a place with government or local s would be utilized by the representatives.
