Mangaluru: Good Friday, which marks the crucification of Jesus Christ and which is one of the most important days for Christians, is being observed with solemnity and religious fervour across parishes in the city on March 30, Friday.
The church ceremonies on this day include reading of the Passion of Christ, reciting a string of prayers, unveiling and veneration of the Cross and communion service.
The Roman Catholic Church observes Good Friday with several long-standing traditions, all of which aim at remembering Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for the sins of humans.
As part of Good Friday, Way of the Cross was held at Milagres Church in Mangaluru. Parishioners took out a procession carrying the statues of Jesus and Mother Mary with great devotion.
A few other churches are expected to hold the Way of the Cross in the afternoon.
