Mangaluru: Volunteers took part in separate cleaning drives in Kulashekar and Mukka beach on Sunday.
While the drive in Kulashekar and surrounding areas was conducted as part of the Ramakrishna Mission’s Swachhata Abhiyan, the drive at the Mukka beach was organised by the Mitrapatna Yuvaka Mandali.
The 22nd week of the Swachhata Abhiyan started from the Kulashekar junction.
Volunteers participating in the cleaning drive were divided into four groups. While the group comprising students from Nitte College of Physiotherapy cleaned the area between Shaktinagar and Bikarnakatte, another team of volunteers cleaned the roadside drains in the stretch.
The third team of volunteers cleaned the interior roads and drains, while members of Hindu Warriors cleaned the road leading to Shaktinagar.
The volunteers cleaned the two bus stops on the Kulashekar – Shaktinagar road stretch and removed the posters that were pasted. .
Several volunteers took part in the cleaning drive at Mukka beach that began at 7 a.m. Among those who took part in the activity included those associated with Amala Bharatam campaign of Mata Amritanandamayi Mutt.
