Mangalore : Honourable Sheriff of Mangalore Dr Indu Shahani inaugurated the National Conference on ‘Women Empowerment – Power of the Nation’ at Conference Hall of SDM College on Feb 12, Saturday.
The conference was organized by SDM College of Business Management and Post Graduate Management Studies & Research, Mangalore.
Delivering the inaugural speech on the occasion, Ms Shahani said that Autonomous gives the feeling of thought.
She also said that in 150 years, the Mumbai University was the first to apply for autonomy in 2002. When the result of all the degree classes was out, then around 9 or all the girls had topped in 10.
It is happy to see a large number of teachers are women. Lot of girls get into education and do well in education, but after that very less number of girls come into profession. In India less than 9 percent of women are not representing the corporate boards.
Women’s common sense is fantastic which includes different qualities. If passionate nothing can come in between. For women life balance is very important and need to have lot of adjustments.
Around 50 percent of world’s population is under the age of 21. Young students are the future of Sheriff of country, he added.
Dr Sudha Rao, CEO (Academics) SDME Society presided over the event.
