Mangaluru: BJP accused that the achievements book being given to voters by J R Lobo contains a string of lies.
Corporator Roopa D. Bangera released ‘Sullugala Saramale’ book in antithesis to Congress MLA J R Lobo’s ‘Sadhaneya Hadiyali’, on Wednesday at Mangaluru South Legislative Assembly Constituency BJP candidate Vedavyas Kamath’s election office. The book was released and distributed amongst the media at a press release here.
She criticized Lobo’s book by saying that it was made of myths of the epics and none of it was in relation to reality. He is claiming that the work completed by him after getting sanctioned by the BJP government as his own achievement and thus misleading the people.
“When B.S. Yeddyurappa was the chief minister, he had announced a special grant for Mangaluru amounting 300 crore rupees. During the governance of BJP, 200 crore rupees were granted of which 140 crore rupees were sanctioned. Of the released amount 129.63 crore rupees (about 89%) was used for the development of basic facilities in the city. After this, under the governance of Congress, only 100 crore rupees were sanctioned of which only 59.99 crore rupees was released. The comprehensive use of this amount is Congress achievement. From this topic, their concern towards development is revealed,” she accused.
In a span of five years, they have not fulfilled even one promise that was given during the last election. The same promises have been established in this book under the new name of ‘Sankalpa’. She asked any other proof was needed to prove that the MLA’s work was zero.
“He claims that the plans from the central government and city corporation to be his achievements. The book only discloses the amount provided for works and does not disclose information on completed works. If information on the number of pending works to be started was disclosed, the achievements of the MLA would become clear to the voters. Information should be given to the people on, under which grant are the programmes for youth being undertaken. If the MLA does not disclose that, we consider it to be an insult to the members of the corporation,” she said.
The MLA claims that facility has been provided for roadside vendors near service bus stop. But there isn’t a single vendor there. Then to who is the facility provided and wrong information is being provided to the people without understanding the reality, she accused.
The MLA has claimed that Kadri Park has been developed. But this work is being done under the union governments ‘Amrut Plan’. Why this is being hidden and not disclosed to the people, she asked.
On January 7th, the toy train was inaugurated by chief minister with great haste. But it has not yet started functioning on the tracks. Musical fountain has been started in the Park. Its entry fee is expensive. Is it possible to watch with family members? The MLA has not discussed abouth this anywhere. The photo depicting his meet and understanding the problems of the farmers is not from Mangaluru and is unknown from which village, she criticized.
There are enough examples in the book claiming the same work under different names. The MLA has explained so much but has been unable to establish plans sanctioned by the previous BJP government including Mangala Corniche road, ring road, Sultan Battery hanging bridge, aquamarine and maritime board plans. He must explain his inability to start these plans to the people, she insisted.
