Mangalore: The Trustees of Mani Krishnaswami Academy in Surathkal, Mangalore City, have organised a Bharatanatya Dance programme at the Town Hall as on 17th Feb., next Thursday at 6pm in the evening. The Academy is headed by Kadri Gopalnath, the saxophone maestro in city.
The press conference was held in Hotel Woodlands at noon. Trustee P.Nityananda Rao addressed the press media, along with Prof G.R.Rai.
He explained that Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan Alva’s Educational Institutions and the MK Academy have jointly organised the event. Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor Prof J.C.Shivashankara Murthy, Dr.M.Mohana Alva (Moodabidri), dancer Guru Ullal Mohan Kumar, Clarionet expert Nagesh A.Bappanadu (a member of Karnataka Dance Academy), and MRPL executive Ms.Laxmi Kumaran, besides art critic, Ms.Prathibha Samagar, are guests of honour.
Prof.G.R Rai, Y.Ramesh Bhat and N.R.Ullal also addressed the Press meet.
Smt Vani Rajagopal (the dancer) was the first Principal of Sandesha Foundation and an experienced dance artiste. She has danced in several programmes in India and abroad, and has featured in several dance ballets designed and directed by Ms.Rukmini Arundale who founded Kalakshetra in Chennai in the last century., said Prof.G.R.Rai.
The programme is free to all dance enthusiasts and admirers of the art and artistes. Woodlands Hotel Owner, Y.Ramesh Bhat requested the art lovers to attend the programme in large numbers.
