Mangalore: Siddanth Nayak (18), son of a City businessman Sathish Chandra Nayak, was adjudged a first runner-up in the Rolon National Dirt Racing Championship on Sunday (Feb13) at the southern city of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. It was his first national honour, he agreed.
He is the new star on the horizon in the sport of Dirt Track Racing in India. His father described the achievement as excellent, when the son was turning 18 on January7. He could be a future national champion.
A fall in the 9th lap spoiled the lad’s chances to become the new champion, but he did not flinch or withdraw, lest people should think of an alibi for his defeat.
He was a beginner, so he had not experimented with a dirt bike or “built-bike” that suited road conditions. He rode only 130cc or 165cc bikes.
In Chandigarh, he had begun badly without any top placements. Later he was placed as first runner up, but in Coimbatore, he ended up third…!
He is going over to Motocross dirt track racing to acquire new skills. He will be in Sullia at state level racing soon, just next week.
