Mangalore : Prof. Chinnappa Gowda, Registrar, Mangalore University inaugurated ‘Namma Angadi’ a three-day exhibition-cum-sale of rural products at Ravindra Kala Bhavan, University College, Hampankatta on Feb 18, Friday.
Speaking after inaugurating the event, he said that we must encourage the rural art crafts, which represent the cultural of our country.
He also said that, if we respect our rural craft, it is like respecting our country’s culture. Since these products are sustainable and eco friendly.
Guest of honor P. P. Hegde, the advocate and vice chairman of the Karnataka State for Council, said that the youths must be encouraged through this kind of rural crafts and make them self employed through this great art.
Ganapathi, associate director said that rural market must be strengthened and expanded.
The exhibition has displayed the handicrafts, handloom and eco- friendly products like cotton kurtas for men and women, shirts, lavancha products, terracotta products, kalamkari dress materials, artistic sarees , children’s clothing, traditional utensils and home accessories, traditional footwear, ethnic jewellery, pure wild honey, organic food products, Kokum, Shikakai, aloe vera soaps, rare paintings and wooden furniture and items like key chains, earrings, articles and other things starting from the range of Rs 5 to 100.
‘Namma Angadi’ will be open for the public between 10.00 am to 9.00 pm on all three days. The event will have the participation of artisans who will present a live demonstration of terracotta sculpting.
