Mangaluru: A woman died after giving birth to a child at Wenlock Hospital here on Thursday, August 30.

The two families of died woman started Chaos at the hospital blaming her husband’s family in a heated argument.

The deceased has been identified as Deepika Acharya (27) from Karkala. Deepika’s parents accused her husband Prakash Acharya and his family of negligence.

Deepika was admitted to a private hospital in Moodbidri on August 25, and was later moved to Wenlock Hospital on on the same day as she had high blood pressure. An emergency caesarean procedure was performed to deliver the child on August 28, as the doctors found that Deepika’s condition was serious. She delivered a baby boy, after which she breathed her last on August 29 at 10.15 pm.

Deepika’s parents demanded that Deepika’s body be given to them, but  Prakash and his family refused their demands. The relatives of Prakash also demanded the ornaments on Deepika’s body be handed over to them.

The other relatives of the family soon arrived at the hospital to help resolve the matter but, a verbal match soon broke out between the two families.

Pandeshwar police arrived at the hospitlal and first disperse the crowd. A meeting between the two families is being held with the mediation of the police.
