Puttur : A team led by DCIB police inspector, Sunil Y Naik, succeeded in arresting the suspects of Unnikrishnan murder case. The arrested suspects have been identified as Aurangzeb (37), resident of Aluva, Ernakulam and Mohammed Shamanaz (23), resident of Alethoor, Palakkad in Kerala.
The accused have reportedly confessed having committed the said murder with assistance from a few others. There is a suspicion that the motive behind the murder is in connection with a woman.
The accused come from criminal background. Aurangzeb has three attempted murder cases, and a case of rioting registered against him in Aluva, Ernakulam police station, while one attempted murder case and a robbery case have been registered in Kalmassery police station, an attempted robbery and violation under the Arms Act in Ernakulam police station and a child-related crime at Benanipuram police station. The accused belongs to a notorious rowdy gang and has a history sheet in Aluva police station.
Under interrogation, the accused revealed that they had parked an Innova car of the deceased in Kasargod bus stand. It has since been confiscated from there. The police are looking out for the remaining suspects.
District superintendent of police has announced cash reward for the team which conducted the operation and nabbed the wanted. The team led by DCIB police inspector Sunil Y Nayak included Narayana, Vasu Naika, Laxman K G, Iqbal A E, Udaya Rai, Pravin M, Tharanath, Uday Gowda, Pravin Rai and Suresh Poojary.
On post-mortem, wounds were found on the corpse and the nephew of the deceased had complained that it was a case of pre-meditated murder. Consequently, a case under IPC section 302, 201 and 120 B and investigated by Uppinangadi police station.
