Mangaluru: Democratic Youth Federation of India activists on Monday staged a protest against the delay in concreting the stretch of Bajal Main Road between J.M. Road and Pakkaladka.
Addressing protesters, the former DYFI State president Sunil Kumar Bajal said that it was unfortunate that the residents of Bajal are forced to go on protest for improvement of road and other facilities in the locality. He said that the residents were facing hardship because of the delay in the completion of concreting the Bajal Main Road. Mr. Bajal accused elected representatives of not showing any interest in addressing issues concerning people.
DYFI district secretary Santosh Kumar Bajal said that there was delay in completing the work, though it has been allotted to two contractors.
Criticising Mangaluru City Corporation for not ensuring the early completion of works, Mr. Santosh said that the DYFI will be forced to intensify its protest if the concreting work was further delayed.
Admitting that there was delay, corporation Commissioner Mohammed Nazir said that the contractor concerned was slow in concreting the road stretch that was being widened. Mr. Nazir said that the delay was also because of time taken to convince the land owners of the need to part with their land for road widening.
