Mangaluru: A constant enthusiasm is a necessity for excellence in student life, said MP and former union minister M Veerappa Moily.
He was speaking as a chief guest at the 150th Foundation Day celebrations of Mangalore University College here on September 20, Thursday. Every student must strive to make his student life unique, everyone has a unique talent which has to be nurtured, he added.
Quality education with a balanced approach go a long way in ensuring better standards of education, he added.
Former vice chancellor Prof M I Savadatti, in his foundation day address, regretted that the reading habits in teachers was waning. Good teaching is not possible unless teachers constantly update their knowledge. The present education system is also not developing leadership qualities in students, he deplored.
Prof Savadatti was felicitated on the occasion. Former minister B Ramanatha Rai, MLC Bhoje Gowda, Mayor Bhasker K, in-charge vice chancellor Prof Kishore Kumar C K, University College Principal Dr Uday Kumar M A, Mangalore University Registrar A M Khan and others were present on the occasion.
