Mangaluru: In a shocking case, some unidentified miscreants tried to kill inmates of a house by planting gelatin sticks around the house at Kabaka Polya on Monday night. The house owner’s wife who has suffered serious injuries in her leg has been hospitalised.

A complaint has been lodged with Puttur Town Police. Senior Police officials have visited the spot along with bomb defusal squad.

The incident occurred in the residence of Narayan Prasad. On Monday night at around 2 am, Narayan Prasad and his wife Shalini heard someone running around the house. Both came out to see someone ignite a gelatin stick and escape. As it exploded Shalini sustained injuries in her leg.

It has been gathered that a person of Kerala origin named Babu used to stay in a room in the compound of Narayan Prasad’s house. However, as he was found to be addicted to alcohol, Narayan had asked him to leave the place. The suspicion is that he might have resorted to such a disruptive act.
