Bangalore: The state cabinet has now fixed the retirement age for Anganawadi women workers and assistants at 60, and approved a lump sum of retirement payment, apart from a monthly pension on retirement for life to them.
Dr.V.S.Acharya, Minister for Higher Education, announcing the decisions taken today by the cabinet, told press persons later on that retirement pension had not been fixed up for Anganawady workers and assistants so long, but now everything is decided today in the cabinet meeting.
An honorarium of Rs50, 000 will be paid to workers on retirement at 60. A monthly pension of Rs5000 will be paid to them for life.
Assistants will receive Rs30, 000 as honorarium in a lump sum, and they will get Rs350p.m as pension for life.
The workers will pay Rs150/- and assistants RsRs75/- every month from Feb. now, and the Govt. will match this amount, Dr.Acharya said. The monthly pension will be paid out through Central Govt. Insurance Scheme to the Anganawadi workers and assistants, he added.
