Mangaluru: Chikkamagaluru MLA C T Ravi on Wednesday, November 14 slammed the state government and alleged that it was following double standards in treating different communities.
Addressing media at district BJP office, he said, “The state government is following double standard in its administrations. It is following duel policies. If someone insults Hindu Gods, Vivekananda or Ram Mandir, the government does not react and sometimes also justifies it. But when someone exposes the cruel activities of Tipu Sultan, he is arrested.
Journalist Santhosh Thammaiah’s arrest is the best example to prove it. He just spoke about Tipu’s autocratic rule. For this, a case was registered against him and in the midnight police arrested him. It clearly shows that how the government is handling people who speak truth. BJP condemns the arrest of Santhosh Thammaiah and stands with him.
“Everyone wonders that despite repeated hate comments and speeches, why the government not arresting Prof Bhagawan, Yogesh Master and Maheshchandra. We all know that naxalism is banned in India and supporting naxals is an offence. But some personalities like Girish Karnad publicly hold boards stating ‘I am an Urban Naxal’. Why the police and legal authorities mum on this? Why these people are protected by the government?
“Last time, the Congress government in the state misused Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for political gain. But this time, the coalition government went one step ahead and hijacked the CCB and COD. Through this, they are saving their corrupt leaders from facing the heat of law. Congress mocked note ban and GST. But many of their leaders are now praising note ban and GST.
Congress leaders cannot digest the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his vision for the country. Through note ban, India’s economy was strengthened. The flow of tax has increased. At the time of UPA government, only corruption took place. At the time of Congress, cheaters like Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi got loans from banks. Congress helped them to get huge amount from bank,” he said.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and Puttur MLA Sanjeev Matandoor and others were present.
