Udupi: The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), Regional Office, Udupi, was selected as the best innovative office in the country for taking initiative to extend Provident Fund coverage to religious and charitable trust/endowments including temples, building, construction industry, fisheries, transport, educational institutions, e-commerce establishments and others.
A press release issued by EPFO here on Tuesday said that as a result of the initiative taken by the Regional Office, Udupi, it had been one of the growing offices in the country. This was evident by total Provident Fund remittances grown by 28% from ₹153 crore to ₹197 crore in 2017-18.
The total number of Provident Fund covered establishments had increased from 1,447 on March 31, 2017, to 1,839 on October 31, 2018. The total number of Provident Fund accounts had grown from 2,36,358 on March 31, 2017, to 2,63,523 on October 31, 2018.
The award was presented by Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment (Independent Charge), Santosh Kumar Gangwar, to Saurabh Kumar, Assistant PF Commissioner, EPFO, Regional Office, Udupi, and Narayana Kamma, ACC, Karnataka (other than Bengaluru) and Goa Zone, in New Delhi on November 1, 2018.
